"I’ve learned that there is one key determinant to proper recovery; Does the patient understand what’s wrong? It’s so important to focus on patient education, helping understand the underlying causes, and how to correct them from the source. Essentially teaching an individual to speak the same language as their body."

Dr. Deborah Mechanic is a chiropractor, yoga instructor, and functional integrated acupuncture provider, practicing in the GTA. Until it’s closure in April 2020, Dr. Deborah also maintained a column at the Canadian Jewish News.

Dr. Deborah grew up in the Bathurst and Lawrence neighborhood and has stayed very involved in the community through volunteering her time with organizations including: Baycrest, The Brain Tumour Foundation, Lymphoma Canada, The Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, multiple local synagogues and schools, and many more.

Dr. Deborah also spends some time giving back and volunteering her services and time with smaller local community groups.

In the clinic, Dr. Deborah main focus is patient centered care, and she has developed special interests in treating headaches, jaw and face pain, as well as pre and post natal care. Dr. Deborah is a huge advocate for collaborative medicine and continues to work closely with health care professionals from all fields.  (for more, see “services”).

Following her undergraduate degree, Dr. Deborah spent some time studying meditation and relaxation, and it’s effects on neurophysiology, before entering her chiropractic education.

During her clinic time at CMCC, she dedicated weekly clinical hours, to the APTUS child treatment centre, where she focused on using her creativity and assessment/treatment skills to improve function and development for children with Autism. Dr. Deborah also instructed weekly yoga classes for adults and seniors with an emphasis on wellness, flexibility, balance and strength development during this time.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Deborah enjoys hiking, swimming, yoga, exploring new music, snapping photos, and trying new restaurants with her friends. Having grown up on her parents’  boat, she can often be found in nature, specifically anywhere with water! (Her knot tying, skills are top notch!)
Dr. Deborah has a very close knit family and can usually be found spending time with them either in the city, or up north at the cottage.
